Kristen Cook-Keck ‘11 married Stephen Keck on November 11, 2021. She also started a new job as a Cataloger at the Daniel F. Cracchiolo Law Library at the University of Arizona in November 2021.


Devon Brookshire ’12

Devon Brookshire ’12 was named All-Portuguese League 2nd Team for the 2022 season. Brookshire began playing professional basketball in Europe following her college career at St. Mary’s College (CA).


In May, Dr. Ja’nae Zahn-Brown ’98 (right) and Rachel Duda ’12 (left), visited campus to speak to the Sports Medicine & Exercise Science classes taught by Alvin Dunn ’96. Zahn-Brown owns Physical Therapy San Pedro and Duda serves as the Clinic Manager. They spoke to students about career paths in physical therapy and the roles they play in helping clients lead healthy lives. Stephen Thompson, Jr. ’15 competed for the Puerto Rican National Team in February during the FIBA World Cup Qualifying Tounament. Outside of playing for Puerto Rico, Thompson, Jr. plays for Reggio Emilia in the Italian Serie A League.


Margarita R. Herrera ’17, who graduated in 2021 from the NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, recently began a job as a Wardrobe Supervisor at The Public Theater in New York City, a prominent off-Broadway theatre. Herrera will serve as the Wardrobe Supervisor for the theater’s production of The Chinese Lady. “As a Drama Lab alumna, I could not have done this without the support of Mrs. Moreau (aka Mashby), Ms. Rudder, and Ms. Evans.”


On December 26, 2021, Jordan Schakel ’17 made BMHS history when he became the first player in school history to play in an NBA game after signing a 10-day contract by the Washington Wizards. Schakel spent most of the season with the Wizards’ G-League team, the Capital City Go-Go, before signing a 2-way NBA contract with the Wizards in March 2022.


Nicole Marafino ’18 graduated in June from Seattle University with a degree in kinesiology. While at Seattle University, she served for four years as a student manager with the baseball team. In May, she was honored on Seattle U’s Senior Day (pictured). She is continuing her studies at Seattle University where she will earn her MBA in Sports Leadership.
