Alberto Juarez ’93, an architect based in the South Bay, is now also a small business owner. In February, he opened La Terraza, a coffee shop at PCH & Avenue D in Redondo Beach. Solomon Hughes ’97 has been cast to play Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in an HBO pilot about the “Showtime” Lakers. The as-yet-untitled pilot will follow the on and off court lives of the Los Angeles Lakers. Hughes recently became an actor and writer in the Screen Actors Guild. He holds a Master’s Degree in Education from UC Berkeley and a Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of Georgia.


Tina Woods-Kratz ’97, who resides in the central coast, had a great time watching the Knights beat St. Joseph’s of Santa Maria in the semi-finals of the Mission Prep Holiday Classic in San Luis Obispo last December. She had an opportunity to visit with one of her former teachers, longtime boys’ basketball coach Doug Mitchell.


Carmelita Jeter ’98 has been named an assistant track & field coach at the University of Alabama. The 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist will work with the Crimson Tide sprinters. She previously served as an assistant coach at Missouri State University prior to her move.
